Privacy Policy
I process personal data relating to my students, their parents (where applicable) and those who are interested in the professional services that I provide. I comply with all legal obligations relating to data protection and privacy.
This Privacy Policy sets out the principles that I apply when processing personal data and describes the types of personal data that I collect, what I do with any data that I collect, how I keep it secure and the legal basis on which I rely for processing data. This Privacy Policy also informs you of your legal rights and how you can contact me.

1. About me
I am a self-employed piano, keyboard and theory teacher, working for and by myself under the name of ‘Simon Probert Piano Lessons’.
2. What personal data do I collect from you?
Personal data is any information relating to an identifiable individual. I only collect the personal data that I need to be able to provide you with the professional services that you have asked me to provide or to provide further information about.
This might include your name, contact address, e-mail address and telephone number, or your child’s name and date of birth. I will only process and collect personal information where I have a legal basis to do so.

I collect information about you when you enter into a contract with me to provide professional services.
4. What is my lawful basis for processing your data?
I may collect and process your personal data when it is necessary in order to provide you with information or professional services, or when it is necessary for the purposes of my legitimate business interests. In these instances I will do so in a way which might reasonably be expected, and which does not impact materially on your fundamental rights, freedom and interests.
5. How will I use your personal data?
I will only use your personal information when the law allows me to do so, i.e. when I have a lawful basis for processing. I will use your personal information in the following circumstances:
- to fulfil any contract I have entered into with you, or to respond to any enquiries you make in this connection before we enter into a contract;
- processing required in connection with the contract for services such as billing, payments, complaints handling and internal record keeping;
- to provide you with information by e-mail about opportunities that may benefit you or your child’s musical development;
- where it is necessary to do so in order to comply with any legal obligations;
- to send you communications required by law, or which are necessary to inform you about changes to the professional services I provide you (such as updates to this Privacy Policy).
6. Who do I share your data with?
In some circumstances I may need to share your data with the following:
- Accountants and auditors;
- Music examination boards; or
- Legal or other advisers, regulatory authorities, courts and government agencies, or where such disclosure may be permitted or required by law.
7. How long will I keep your data?
I will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes I collected it for. This includes for the purposes to comply with statutory or other legal requirements.
8. Data security
I will take appropriate technical measures to protect the personal data that I hold. I have put in place appropriate procedures to safeguard and secure that information.

Right to information and access: you have the right to be informed about what personal data I collect about you, why and on what lawful basis, and what your rights are, and to be provided with a copy of your personal data. This Privacy Policy is the key document that I will use to inform you about these.
Right to rectification: the right to require me to correct any errors in your personal data.
